James A. Field M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Field grew up in Spring. He graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. He then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he received his medical degree. Dr. Field stayed on to complete his general surgery residency, being administrative chief resident his final year. In 2001, he became board certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Field has held many leadership positions, such as Chief of Surgery-St. Luke’s The Woodlands, Cancer Committee Chair and Co-Director of Trauma at Memorial Hermann Hospital The Woodlands.  Dr. Field also serves on numerous committees including the Operating Room Committee and the Peer Review Committee at St. Luke’s The Woodlands.

Dr. Field’s interests are in general and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He treats diseases of the breast, abdominal organs, and hernias. He has extensive experience with laparoscopic procedures including: hernias, colectomies, reflux procedures, gall bladders, and appendectomies.

Dr. Field is married and enjoys travel, golf, and sports.
