Joohee Moonat, M.D. Dr. Moonat, who grew up in The Woodlands, is an alumnus of the John Cooper School and graduated with honors from Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She returned to Texas in 2001 to complete medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Health Center and completed her general surgical training at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. During her time at Baylor, Dr. Moonat's training focused breast surgery as well as advanced laparoscopic procedures. Outside of diseases of the breast, Dr. Moonat has specific interests in advanced abdominal procedures including gallbladder, appendectomy, hernia, and laparascopic surgery as well as thyroid and parathyroid procedures. In addition, she has spent time abroad educating impoverished villagers about water sanitation, immunization, and tuberculosis prevention. She is also active in the IDA Charity Clinic, which provides primary and preventative care for the uninsured in downtown Houston. Dr. Moonat also enjoys spending time with her family in The Woodlands, running, traveling, reading, and has recently started to work on her golf swing.
